Joseph: Overcoming Evil With Good

The story of Joseph is filled with abusive treatment and neglect. People who Joseph trusted brought deep pain into his life. Praise the Lord Joseph realized that God sovereignly overcomes evil with good and calls His people to do the same! Let us all allow the lessons of Joseph’s life to change ours.

Hatred At Home

Our families of origin play an important role in our formation. Unfortunately, growing up in dysfunctional homes is all too common in our day. Some people seem to allow this fact to dominate their lives and to become an excuse for not maturing. Others are disillusioned with God because He did not intervene in the situation. As we begin our series in the life of Joseph from Genesis 37, we will find that his family was completely dysfunctional and filled with hatred and jealousy. We will also find that Joseph’s Sovereign God was up to something, even as he experienced deep emotional pain and confusion. May God use Joseph’s story to shape our own story.

We are all drawn to the Psalms because they speak powerfully to our human experience with God in all seasons of life. When we can’t find the words to the trouble or the joy in our soul, the psalms often express in words the deep-seated experience of our souls. We hope that you can join us as we explore a selection of psalms in this teaching series.

Did you know that about 1/3 of Jesus’ teaching was in the form of parables?  Whether we are young or old, we love the stories which are told by Jesus, because they are so engaging. We will be exploring together parables which are unique to Luke’s Gospel of Jesus Christ. We will be covering topics including the wonder of Jesus’ saving grace, the problem of self-righteousness, the pursuit of God above everything else, a passion to love the lost, the centrality of prayer, stewardship of our possessions, and the importance of focusing on the coming of Christ.  May God’s Spirit use God’s Word to make us more like God’s Son.
